These Terms and Conditions are established to ensure the safety, welfare, and responsibility of our clients. It is your obligation to review and understand them fully. We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time, with such changes taking immediate effect. By booking our services, you acknowledge and agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions, as well as our Waiver of Liability.
general terms
All services must be paid for in advance of the start date.
Refunds are issued at our discretion on a case-by-case basis, except where stated under the Calm by Nature Guarantee. All decisions are final.
By booking a service with Bear Basics Canine Academy, you agree to these terms and conditions.
We reserve the right to terminate a service at any time if we believe the programme is no longer a good fit, progress is unlikely due to low client engagement, or the working relationship breaks down.
calm by nature risk-free guarantee
We’re confident in what we do. If you try Calm by Nature and, after 30 days of full participation, you’re not seeing progress, you can request a full refund.
If you complete the full 80-day programme exactly as outlined and still don’t see a real shift in your dog’s behaviour, we’ll keep working with you for free until you do.
To qualify for the guarantee, you must attend all booked sessions, follow the training and behaviour plan we set out, and provide requested updates or footage so we can track progress.
This guarantee applies only to Calm by Nature and overrides the general refund policy.
1:1 dog training programmes
In-person 1:1 Dog Training Programmes require a minimum 3-month commitment.
Payment: Payment is due at the time of booking and must be made before the programme begins. You can choose to pay in full or spread the cost across three monthly instalments.
If you choose a payment plan, the full programme cost still applies regardless of session attendance or participation. Payment plans are a courtesy to help spread the cost, not a pay-as-you-go setup.
If a scheduled payment fails, all sessions and support will be paused until the payment is received. Missed sessions due to failed payments will not be refunded or rescheduled. If payment remains outstanding for more than 14 days, we reserve the right to remove you from the programme and take further steps to recover the balance owed.
Any late payments will incur a fee of £2.50 per day overdue.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your Calm by Nature programme within 30 days for a full refund under the guarantee if you’re not seeing progress (evidence must be shown). After this period, refunds will not be issued unless stated in the guarantee above.
Rescheduling Sessions: We can reschedule in-person sessions with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. If we do not have availability to reschedule within the duration of your programme, the session will be forfeited and not refunded.
No-Show Policy: We operate a two-strike policy for no-shows. After two missed sessions, your programme will be terminated and you will be ineligible to book with us again. Missed sessions are not refundable and will not be rescheduled.
Session Cancellation by Us: If we need to cancel a session, we’ll offer an alternative date.
Client Responsibility: You are responsible for engaging fully with the programme. This includes attending sessions, completing tasks, providing requested updates or footage, and staying in regular communication. Lack of engagement may result in your programme being ended early.
Termination of Programme: We may end a programme early if we believe we’re not the right fit, you are not participating as expected, or the working relationship has broken down. No refunds will be issued for sessions or support already delivered.
Safety: All safety protocols must be followed during sessions. Failure to comply may result in immediate termination of the session.
Clients must be honest about bite history or any bite risks. There’s no judgment, this is about safety. Muzzle training is highly recommended for all dogs.
Dogs must remain under control unless directed otherwise by a trainer. You are responsible for your dog’s actions and any consequences.
Bear Basics Canine Academy is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage to people, dogs, or property during sessions. We also do not guarantee specific outcomes, training success depends on a variety of factors including your dog’s temperament and your own consistency.
online dog training programmes

group classes
Payment: Payment for Group Classes is due at the time of booking.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations within 48 hours of a class are non-refundable.
Session Cancellation by Us: If we cancel a class, we’ll offer a refund or an alternative date.
Demeanour of Dog: Dogs known to be aggressive must not be booked into Group Classes. Reactive dogs are welcome.
People-reactive or bite-risk dogs must wear a muzzle.
New clients must book a 30-minute discovery call before joining a Group Class if they are not an existing client of ours.
We reserve the right to exclude dogs who are not suitable. If a dog is removed due to undisclosed issues, no refund will be given. If your dog was previously assessed but is later deemed unsuitable, we will offer a suitable alternative such as a 1:1 session.
Safety: Dogs must be kept on lead and under control at all times unless directed otherwise. You are responsible for your dog’s actions. We’re not liable for any loss, injury, or damage during the class.
We don’t guarantee specific results. Success depends on various external factors.
We recommend pet insurance with third-party liability. We hold public liability and business insurance.
All dogs must wear an ID tag, be microchipped with up-to-date details, and be fit, healthy, and free of parasites. We accept American XL Bullies if they have an Exemption Certificate and follow current Government guidelines.
Dog Health & Vaccinations: Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations or have valid titre testing. Don’t bring your dog if it’s unwell, in season, or has a contagious illness. Always clean up after your dog.
If your dog can’t attend a class, we encourage you to attend anyway so you can continue learning.
Children: Children are welcome in Group Classes if accompanied by an adult. They must behave appropriately around unfamiliar dogs and remain within the designated area.
We do not recommend children join Social Walks. If a child causes disruption or distress to dogs, we may ask them to leave. You’re responsible for their safety.
photography & videography
By agreeing to our Terms and Conditions, you give Bear Basics Canine Academy permission to photograph or film you and your dog during sessions. These may be used across our social media, website, and print materials.
We will not use photos or videos of children without explicit consent from their parent or guardian.
waiver of liability
Bear Basics Canine Academy are hereafter referred to as BBCA.
I hereby accept all risks associated with my participation in all BBCA training sessions, including, but not limited to: the risks of any injuries to myself, my dog and any of my family members or third parties who may attend; the risks that my dog may cause injury to other persons and/or dogs involved; and the risks that saliva, dog faeces, water, food, training equipment and/or other debris and natural hazards may be present in the training area. I am voluntarily participating in these activities with knowledge of these potential dangers. I acknowledge that dogs can be inherently difficult to control and that not all dogs may be under control at all times resulting in the possibility of injury to myself, my dog, my family members, or third parties.
I accept personal responsibility for any and all actions my dog makes and will not hold BBCA or the associated instructors responsible. I am responsible for my own dog(s) at all times and have read BBCA's terms and conditions and agree to them fully.
I certify that I have been informed and understand that there is always some unavoidable risk of injury involved when working with dogs, especially dogs with behavioural issues. Additionally, I have had full opportunity to discuss all concerns I have about the foregoing risks with BBCA and its authorised representatives. I have also made all inquiries and investigations to my satisfaction related to such risks, including, but not limited to, an examination of the training area (where applicable).
I acknowledge that BBCA has not represented, promised, guaranteed or warranted that my dog will never bite, that my dog will not be dangerous in the future, that my dog will not exhibit other behavioural problems, or that the results of the training will last for any particular amount of time.
At BBCA's sole election, BBCA's duties shall terminate if (a) in BBCA's sole judgment my dog is dangerous to BBCA trainers or any other person or animal, or interferes with the training of other dogs, or (b) I breach any term or condition of this Agreement. Upon termination in accordance with the foregoing, BBCA's duties shall terminate but all other provisions of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect. BBCA reserve the right to ask handlers to leave classes if their dog is disruptive.
If my dog causes property damage, or bites or injures any dog, animal or person (including but not limited to BBCA trainers and BBCA's agents), during or after the term of this Agreement, then I agree to pay all resulting losses and damages suffered or incurred, and to defend and indemnify BBCA and BBCA's agents from any resulting claims, demands, lawsuits, losses, costs or expenses, including attorney fees. If my dog is injured in a fight or in any other manner during or after the term of the Agreement, I assume the risk and agree that BBCA should not be held responsible for any resulting injuries, losses, damages, costs or expenses.
I will hold BBCA, its owner(s), employee(s), or agent(s) free and harmless from any and all claims, liability, damage, loss, or expenses arising out of any injury to any person or to any person’s property by my dog, while in my care, custody and control.
This Waiver of Liability is legally binding. Should I wish to make a claim to the contrary to what I have agreed to, I shall be liable for all expenses (including solicitor’s fees, court costs and consultant fees) incurred by both myself and BBCA.
